I AM POWER SUMMIT
One of the most important aspects of my leadership development was being surrounded by women from my community who influenced me to be my whole self in every space I occupied. This made me comfortable with my leadership abilities and helped me inspire my peers to walk in their truth. The I Am Power Summit would allow campus organizations who regularly participate in mentorship work with all girls and non-binary youth to partner with SGA to create a personal development summit inclusive of self-esteem, mental health, leadership, and civic engagement workshops. This Summit would ideally take place in April 2019 to ensure that SGA and other organizations have time to secure funding to ensure sure that the youth have an impactful and memorable experience.

We gon' start a society within a society
That's major, just like the Negro League
There was a time America wouldn't let us ball
Those times are now back, just now called Afro-tech
Generational wealth, that's the key

SHUTTLE TO RENAISSANCE
CO-OPERATIVE
After Jay-Z’s album 4:44 came out, students from our campus started conversations about generational wealth and investment in our communities. Good news, we don’t have to wait until after we’ve graduated to start investing in our community! East Greensboro, North Carolina A&T’s community, was in a food desert for eighteen years before Renaissance Community Co-operative (RCC) was created. Without the RCC, children, mothers, fathers, and families of color would not have access to healthy fresh food. One of the coolest things about the RCC is that it is owned by the community, not a corporation. We can help sustain the RCC by doing two simple things: buying our groceries there and/or becoming partial owners. Unfortunately, the RCC is not within walking distance from campus so I would like SGA to work with the Office of Student Affairs to pay for the shuttles run every other Sunday for a select amount of time to transport on-campus students to the RCC to buy groceries and bring them back.
