Student Voice
The most important group of people on any university campus are the students.Without students’ tuition, fees, accomplishments, and innovations our University would not stand. Consequently, the student voice will always be the most important voice on campus. Our campus deserves an SGA that will always put the students concerns, needs, and suggestions before anything.
Political Engagement
According to The National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement, the HBCU voting turnout decreased by 10.6% from the 2012 presidential election to the 2016 presidential election. This decrease could, in part, be attributed to lack of excitement for the candidates, attacks on voting rights and in our case, gerrymandering.
To be clear, voting is not the only way that students can be politically engaged. Protests, boycotts, direct actions, civil disobedience and/or voting are all actions that express political engagement. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University stands on the shoulders of some of the most influential civil rights leaders this nation has ever seen, The A&T Four.
We have a duty to the A&T Four, ourselves, and our communities to be politically engaged, especially in our hostile political climate. In 2018, in-state students and out-of-state students who register in North Carolina will be able to vote for their respective Congressional districts, NC State House and Senate, Guilford County Sheriff, and Guilford County School Board. We can change Greensboro and North Carolina if our campus becomes politically engaged!
Student Success
Although we have a great time SUAB events, GHOE, and Aggie Fest the reason we are all at North Carolina A&T is to be successful. The best thing about success is that it looks and feels different to everyone. Sometimes success looks like an art showcase, making the Dean’s List, securing a corporate internship, or just graduating from our illustrious University. No matter what success looks like to you, SGA should be there to help you!
Community Investment
Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation are situated in predominantly minority areas with little to no access to fresh food, clean air or water, and few job opportunities to create substantial economic and social mobility; North Carolina A&T is no different. Sometimes it seems easier to stay within the gates of our campus and pretend like the community around us, our community, is in no way connected to this campus. Our campus should be immersed in our community in a meaningful way and our community should feel welcomed on our campus.
Delaney
Vandergrift

ABOUT
Delaney Vandergrift is a junior political science student with a minor in multimedia journalism from Raleigh, North Carolina. She came to North Carolina A&T to play volleyball after committing her senior year of high school. After playing her freshman year, she decided that community service, advocacy, and social justice were more important to her than sports. Delaney then joined and worked with multiple social justice organizations across the nation. Since then she’s been incredibly engaged both on and off campus and can’t wait to continue advocacy work throughout her senior year!
